"The bee of the heart stays deep inside the flower, and cares
for no other thing ," whispers Sufi poet Kabir.*
Kabir's words may suggest our patient abiding in finding and engaging our true calling. A true calling arises through choiceless awareness and tested through passionate engagement. Perhaps like bees heavy with pollen, distilling pure honeycombed nectar, oozing its generous honeyed liqueur.
In this season of shimmering heat waves, lush flowering and vibrant streams of light, we might just take the position of the bee. Rest in what is consummated in the alchemy of flower, pollen, bee and humming communal creation; the yummy shared sweet spot of BEING.
Staying deep within the flower of our embodied experience, perfumed with conscious recognition of whatever arises, abides and ceases to be. Befriending, kindly investigating and letting things be as they are, invites a natural movement toward resolve, where all things become of benefit without erring.
Just what we are called to BE.
Last night as I was sleeping
I dreamt - marvelous error -
that I had a beehive
here inside my heart,
and the golden bees were making white combs
and sweet honey from all of my old failures.
- Antonio Machado
